The Serrated Casque-headed Iguana (Laemanctus serratus) can often be found sitting motionlessly on branches. This is when they are hunting, sitting and waiting for prey to approach before attacking. This hunting style means they eat very infrequently.
These iguanas mostly rely on camouflage to protect themselves from predators; they can freeze their bodies and change colours rapidly. However, if this is ineffective, they will “puff up” their chest and crest while bobbing their head to appear bigger to predators.

Insectivore- small crickets, locusts, spiders
Habitat
Tropical rain forests of southern Mexico and Central America. Typically found in low tree branches or bushes.
Life Span
Serrated Casque-Headed Iguanas live 7-10 years
Tails
These animals’ tails are almost three times their bodies’ length and are used for balance, making them extremely quick and agile.
