The West African dwarf crocodile is the world’s smallest crocodile, growing up to 1.8 metres – compared to the Nile crocodile, which can reach 5m in length. It is found alone or in pairs, in burrows and the hollows of low lying tree branches at the water’s edge. They are mostly active at night.
Dwarf crocodiles are threatened by habitat change and hunting.

Diet
Fish in the wet season. Crustaceans and amphibians in the dry season

Habitat
These crocodiles are found in freshwater pools, tropical rain forests or wet grasslands in central and western Africa.
Tree Climber
Dwarf crocodiles can climb trees and can sometimes be found in the lower branches
Life Span
Enjoys a lifespan of up to 75 years in captivity
