What Else To Expect

Not all creatures at Beale Wildlife Park are big, feathery, or scaly – some are small, hidden, and incredibly unique! We especially love our arachnids, one of which being the Salmon Pink Bird Eating Tarantula.

What are Arachnids?

Arachnids are a diverse group of eight-legged creatures that include spiders, scorpions, ticks, and mites. Unlike insects, they have two main body segments and lack wings or antennae. Spiders, the most well-known arachnids, are expert hunters that use silk to spin webs, trap prey, or build shelters. Scorpions, on the other hand, rely on their pincers and venomous stingers for defense and hunting. Despite their sometimes fearsome reputation, arachnids are key in maintaining ecological balance by controlling insect populations and contributing to nutrient cycling in their habitats.
