Visitor Experience Assistant – Restaurant

Reporting to: Chef Manager 

About the role: 

The role of Visitor Experience Assistant requires a professional, customer focused and enthusiastic individual willing to work as a part of a team to support and represent Beale Wildlife Park and Child Beale Trust. The aim of the role is a key part of the restaurant team, welcome visitors into the newly open restaurant and provide excellent customer service. You will take pride in providing a clean, sanitary and safe environment for our customers to enjoy their meal. 

In addition to this you and may be expected to support the Wider Visitor Experience team in their tasks, as well as taking an active part in any additional visitor related events that may arise during the year. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Counting morning till flow and end of the day cash taking, while making sure you adhere to the cash handling policy and procedures  
  • Reporting any variances immediately to HOD and Head of Finance  
  • Taking the food and drinks orders on the till  
  • Serving food and drinks to tables and for take out 
  • Making hot drinks for the customers using the equipment provided 
  • Basic food preparation requested by chef 
  • Adhering to strict food safety protocol and following all the rules dictated by law 
  • Answering visitors questions and enquires in polite and positive manner 
  • Making sure that restaurant is clean, tidy and well presented at all times 
  • Using every opportunity to maximise profit and widen up-selling options 
  • Helping with extra activities across the park. 
  • Behaving in professional and respectable way towards your colleagues and visitors 
  • Following Health and Safety regulations in the Park 
  • Adhering to the correct procedures regarding time off work, sickness and any other HR related topics 

Hours: 40 hours per week 

Salary: Up to £21674 per annum (FTE) DOE 

Job Type: Permanent – Full time and part time available.  

Schedule: Weekend availability

Sous Chef

Reporting to: Chef Manager  

About the role  

This role calls for an enthusiastic talented Sous Chef to help our team create memorable meals for our restaurant’s patrons. You will be responsible for a specific roles within the kitchen, preparing high-quality food that meets the Chef Manager’s standards, and ensuring that food is prepared in a timely effective manner, servicing a high turnover restaurant in the wildlife park.  

The role requires someone who can keep a level head when working under pressure with the expectation that in the absence of the Chef Manager you will be overseeing the running of the kitchen to expected standards.  

The ideal candidate will be an excellent team player, willing to go the extra mile in pursuit of great food and exceptional service. 

Duties Include 

  • Preparing specific food items and meal components as directed. 
  • Following directions provided by the Chef Manager. 
  • Collaborating with the rest of the team to ensure high-quality food and service. 
  • Keeping the kitchen safe and sanitary. 
  • Stocktaking and ordering supplies. 
  • Improving your food preparation methods based on feedback. 
  • Assisting in other areas of the kitchen and restaurant when required. 

Person Specification 

  • Past experience working in a similar role. 
  • Ability to work well in a team. 
  • Excellent listening and communication skills. 
  • Knowledge of best practices for safety and sanitation. 
  • Passion for delivering great food and service. 
  • Multitasking and organisational ability. 
  • Available to work shifts during weekends and holidays. 

Hours: 40 hours per week 

Salary: Up to £23500 per annum DOE
