An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, organised and strong communicator to take on the new role of marketing assistant at our beautiful wildlife park on the Thames. You’ll be part of a growing team at an exciting time in the development of the charitable trust, its wildlife park, and wider Estate. You will report into the Head of Marketing and Visitor Experience, providing vital support in planning and delivering campaigns that maximise the opportunity to deliver footfall and commercial return. Strong written skills, a can-do attitude and plenty of ideas are essential! Previous experience either within a marketing or media role – or through Further Education – are preferred.
Activities are varied but are likely to include the following, under the guidance and training of the Head of Marketing:
Campaigns: assist the Head of Marketing in planning and delivering successful marketing campaigns that deliver footfall, maximising opportunity throughout the year
‘Products’: undertake marketing activity for ‘products’, including animal adoptions and experiences
Social media: help to generate ideas and gather strong social media content. Contribute to daily posting and engagement. Invite influential bloggers to review the park. Respond to Trip Advisor reviews using agreed FAQs
Website: learn how to use our website management software and help to keep the website fresh and up to date
Media: support with PR initiatives, such as issuing press releases and arranging interviews. Book in advertising and keep track of copy and artwork deadlines
Events: support with the planning and execution of special activities, such as seasonal events and Zoo Club – including research and benchmarking, elements of the administration, and the smooth running on the day
Materials: assist in the development of marketing materials, such a signage, posters and flyers. Including research and initial copy drafting, liaison with designers and identification of suitable photography
Photo library: develop a photo library with all images properly categorised – and gaps identified
Internal news: support internal communications as required
Administration: fulfil the administrative requirements of the team, e.g. updating the Purchase Order tracker.
Key Performance Indicators
Support the Head of Marketing in meeting any agreed targets
Undertake support functions in a timely manner, maintaining high standards of quality
Ongoing maintenance of accurate admin records
Ensure all activities support the Trust’s corporate, charitable, commercial objectives and are ‘on brand’.
Be aware of and adhere to the Trust’s policies at all times.
Take part in progress/performance reviews throughout the year. Cooperate with other departments
Attend training courses as required to meet the requirements of the role. Take responsibility for own personal development, seeking out opportunities to learn new skills
Undertake any other duties as requested by management which are reasonably deemed to be within the scope of the role.
Hours: Basic hours are 20 per week (specific days / hours of working can be negotiated), however flexibility is required as Beale Wildlife Park operates seven days a week during high season. There may be an occasional need for working during a weekend or bank holiday, such as if an event is taking place.
Salary: £12,000 per year
