Bookings are now open for school trips during 2025. Choose from a self-guided option or an engaging curriculum-based workshop covering a range of key stages. These involve activity-based learning linked to science and geography topics, with an opportunity to meet some small animals.

SELF-LED GROUP VISITS:

Peak Cost: £11.50 per student
Off Peak Cost: £9 per student
A minimum of 20 students is required to receive group rate. Groups smaller than 20 people will pay our normal concession price for entry. We offer one free adult for every four children.

WORKSHOPS:

Cost: £40 per workshop
Our workshops cover a range of key stages from EYFS to Higher Education. The workshops involve activity-based learning linked to science and geography topics, with an opportunity to meet some small live animals. Workshops can accommodate up to 30 students at a time. View these workshops below. 

Polar session

Explore the coldest parts of our planet. What is life like for the animals that live there?
A session all about polar animals and how they live in the coldest regions.
A hands-on learning experience with polar animal artefacts as well as a chance to meet our reindeer up close with a feeding experience.

Suitable for Reception up to KS2 classes.
Includes feeding reindeer experience. Workshop is 30min long, feeding experience 15mins.
Due to the nature of the site, and the location of our reindeer the workshop will be separate to the feeding experience. Please enquire with Education regarding timings and logistics of the sessions.
Max students per session 20- *Please note smaller group size due to animal feeding experience – £40 per workshop.

• Location of cold areas of the world in relation to equator and poles

KS2 Science:

• Identify how the habitat changes throughout the year- compare UK to Polar regions
• Compare and contrast the diets of different animals
• Recognise that environments can change and that this can sometimes pose dangers to living things
• (Upper KS2) Identify how animals and plants are adapted to suit their environment in different ways and that adaptation may lead to evolution

KS2 Geography:

• Identify the position and significance of areas on the globe.

Curriculum based Workshops:

We also are able to cater for a range of KS3 and KS4 topics, as well as SEND groups.

Useful information

Payments

All visits will be invoiced prior to the trip taking place. Any changes to student numbers must be given 10 days prior to the visit so we can invoice for the correct amount.

Lunches and bag drop
Please note that we do not currently offer a bookable indoor space for lunches. However, there are designated picnic areas located throughout the zoo, and our staff will be happy to direct you to them.
A bag drop area is available near the ticket office, but items are left at your own risk. For the safety of our animals, we encourage all visitors to leave food items with staff at the Wild Café, where they can be safely stored. Please note that this is a complimentary service, and the zoo cannot accept liability for any lost or damaged items.
Zoo amenities

There are various animal keeper talks going on throughout the day. As well as several play areas. The pool is available depending on season and temperature. Each entry ticket will also include 1 free train ride.
