Join our team of volunteers
We are looking for more volunteers to help support our team here at the Park. Below we have included some of the roles open to volunteers.
Become a member of the team
Volunteers play an important part in the running of the Park, and can be involved in almost every aspect of our daily tasks, depending on your experience and the amount of time you are able to contribute.
Animal team
Duties include food preparation, cleaning, enclosure maintenance and enriching the lives of our animals through creating activities for them. You may also be interested in sharing details about our animals with our visitors and talking part in talks.
Days available: any weekday
Gardening/Maintenance teams
Horticultural tasks: e.g. weeding, planting, watering, mowing and general garden maintenance (some basic gardening experience is required). Also, some construction, renovation, sweeping paths, cleaning the paddling pool, painting gates and fences, and, on occasion, various projects.
Days available: any weekday
Family events (school holiday) team
We are eager to ensure that visitors to the Park have a lot of fun. Part of this is to provide opportunities for make and take (craft) activities in our Beale Centre or planning family discovery trails for all family members to discover something new.
Days available: any weekday mainly in school holidays.
Requirements
There are no formal qualifications required to become a volunteer. However, you will need to be reliable, enthusiastic and courteous when dealing with visitors and other team members. All our volunteer positions are for those aged 18 years of age or above.
There are opportunities for students with a Further or Higher Education background – depending on what they want to do (references may be required).
Training and induction
Procedures vary according to the team you volunteer with. You will be given an induction which will include emergency procedures, health and safety information and given an overview of the Park, with additional training relating to the tasks you are volunteering for.
If you wish to express your interest….
