Diet
Although thought of as carnivores, their diet mainly consists of fruit. They will also eat birds, small mammals and eggs.

Grows up to 10 – 14 kg and up to 1m
60cm including the tail.
Lifespan
Enjoys a lifespan of 10 – 25 years
As the largest member of the civet family, binturongs are excellent climbers, using their prehensile tails to grip onto branches. The tail is capable of supporting their entire bodyweight.
Their main threats are deforestation,
poaching for the pet or traditional medicine
trades and also for meat. This has led to
a 30% decline in population in the last
30 years. Our binturong belong to an
international breeding programme to
conserve the species.
