Mangroves, dense forest and savannah
woodlands of West Africa

Size

Can grow up to 15 – 25 cm

Lifespan

Enjoys a lifespan of 40 – 60 years.

Smaller than the better known Congo African Grey parrot, these Timneh cousins are also thought to be somewhat more gentle in nature. They prefer to flock
together in large groups which helps with avoidance of predation.

The main threats to these endangered birds
are loss of their forest habitat and trapping
for their illegal export to the pet trade.

Like all timneh greys,  our parrots Buster & Red are great mimics. They will repeat your whistles, as well as copying the sound of the train and the beeping made by the keepers’ radios!
