Education

Bookings are now open for school trips during 2022-3. As well as a self-guided option, we are excited to announce that we are offering engaging curriculum-based workshops for a range of key stages (please see below). These involve activity-based learning linking to science and geography topics, with an opportunity to meet some small animals.

 

A group booking rate of £10.50 during high season and £9.00 during low season per student for general admission is offered to schools, with a minimum number of 20. We offer one free adult for every four children. Workshops will be charged at £40 each (for up to 30 pupils).

EYFS

Amazing Africa
Curriculum links: Natural world- Know some similarities and differences between the natural world around them and contrasting environments, changes in the natural world around them, including the seasons.

Marvellous Minibeasts
Curriculum links: Explore the natural world around them, making observations of animals and plants.

KS1

Amazing Africa
Curriculum links: Science- Identify common animals and how they suit their habitats, predators and prey. Geography- Seasons in the UK compared to Africa.

Marvellous Minibeasts
Curriculum links: Science – Identify common animals, pupils will work scientifically to compare and contrast animals, grouping and identifying different minibeasts.

Animal Care
Curriculum links: Science – Find out about needs of basic needs of animals, identify common animals.

Predators and Prey
Curriculum links: How animals obtain food from plants and other animals, food chains, carnivores, omnivores, herbivores.

KS2

African Savannah
Curriculum links: Science – How habitats change through the years UK vs. African Savannah, Compare and contrast diets of different animals. Geography – Positions and locations on the globe, aspects of physical geography.

Food and Feeding
Curriculum links: Science – Identify animals need correct nutrition, comparison of different teeth, food chains.

Endangered Species
Curriculum links: Science – Recognise that environments can change and that this can sometimes pose dangers to living things. Pupils should explore examples of human impact (both positive and negative) on environments.

Adaptation and Evolution (upper KS2)
Curriculum links: Evolution and inheritance, variation, how animals are adapted to suit their environment and how this may lead to evolution.
